When we finished our ride and Cuddles said good bye to her new friend we headed for the New York Stock Exchange. When we got there Cuddles and I stood in front of the big bronze bull. We had our pictures taken in front of it. We talked to a few people and spent a few minutes there.

  We then took the subway back to central park were we relaxed and had some time to rest. Cuddles grazed on the grass, as I sat back and began to rest my mind from what had been a very eventful day. Soon I could hear birds singing. There was a squirrel chattering away, perhaps at another squirrel or maybe it was at Cuddles. I could smell the flowers and hear the trees blowing in the breeze. These are the same sounds that I hear when I sit out near my pond in Maine. I began to feel what it was going to be like to have Cuddles at home.

  After we rested and Cuddles got a bite to eat we headed over to the ABC building. When we arrived we checked in at the front desk and Dean Irwin who is the producer of ABC News 20/20 who had invited us there, came down and welcomed us to ABC. He then introduced us to the production staff. Then much to my surprise we were able to meet Barbara Walters and Connie Chung. There we all were, all these super media personal who I have watched and admired for years, Cuddles and I. Who would have ever thought Dan Shaw from Ellsworth Maine would be standing here with all these celebrities. It's true I have been blessed.

  Later that evening Dean and his wife, the Burlesons, Cuddles and I went to a really nice Italian restaurant named Brunelli's in Manhattan.  I felt honored to be there. While we sat and ate and talked I thought about Cuddles and how many wonderful people we have met and places we had been because of her on our journey. I also thought about the Guide Horse Foundation and what they had done for me. I wanted to do something in return. I knew I did not have the resources that these people have. Then I thought I had something else though, I have Cuddles and with Cuddles by my side I could help raise funds so that some one else may receive the same gift I was given by Patricia Cornwell. Maybe in this way I could show my appreciation to the Guide Horse Foundation and all the others that made this wonderful thing happen for me.
