Because Cuddles is the very first Guide Horse in full service we were always doing interviews with the media. We had in many interviews with many countries besides the United States. We were interviewed by reporters from Malaysia, Canada, Tokyo, and Germany. I had no idea that so many people were interested in the Guide horse possibilities. Now don't get me wrong, I did not mind it at all. I knew that the more people that knew about the Guide Horse Foundation meant there would be a better chance for someone else to receive one. The last week of May, Cuddles, Janet and Don Burleson and, their two children and I left for Maine. We traveled up along the East Coast, where the first stop was Washington D.C. We arrived Memorial Day weekend. There were so many people there; this was Cuddles first time in D.C. as well as mine. It was so cool not only were there a lot of people but there were also lots of bikers on motorcycles. They had a big bikers meet in Washington in Honor of all the veterans and P.O.W.'s, there were so many of them it gave you a good feeling inside to know why they were there. Cuddles and I were standing at an intersection waiting to cross when a large group of motorcycles came around the corner. They were very loud, but Cuddles never even flinched. When it was time to cross Cuddles never got distracted. It was like they were not even there. |
